Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of JVC HAFXC50R Micro HD Inner Ear Headphone (Red)

Customer Review: Great sound, right out of the box!
Summary: 5 Stars

I'm really impressed with these headphones. Pulled them out of the box, plugged them into the iPod, and they have a great sound. I started out with some Edgar Meyer from Uncommon Ritual, and they gave great detail and tonal quality. Then I switched to Beastie Boys (Hello Nasty), and I'm just blown away. Lots of layers and details that I never noticed before. The high end is crisp but not painful, and the bass is low and solid. They didn't catch quite all the low end on the first track, but I think it takes a 12" sub with a few hundred watts to do that adequately.

Anyways, all this is just with relatively high quality mp3's on a 5th gen 60GB video iPod. I can't wait to break the headphones in for a few weeks and then try them out with a nice hi-rez source like SACD or DVD-Audio. Or maybe even the NIN Ghosts blu-ray. Should be quite an experience!

Also, other than the fact that I have great sounds piped directly into my ears, I can barely tell that I'm wearing headphones. The medium buds fit me perfectly, and these things are feather light. Actually, I think I've seen heavier feathers. There are no pressure points on my ears anywhere to tell me that I'm wearing headphones. Quite nice! Most of the bulk of the bud seems to be there just so that you can grab and manipulate them. The cord material is also quite nice, as you can't hear very much noise transmitted up them as you move around (bumps and vibration as the cable drags across your shirt as you turn your head, for instance). Other bud earphones have a huge problem with this.

Overall, I'm quite impressed and glad I took the giant $26 leap, heh.
